Stephanie (The Bumpkin Gourmet) and Justin (The Taster)
I grew up all over the world, sampling new flavors and broadening my culinary horizons from a young age. My mom and I have been to all seven continents and nearly 60 countries, each with their own unique food experiences. Trying new foods is exciting and should be adventurous!
My husband, Justin, was born and bred in the Midwest. A meat and potatoes guy, he loves trying out new jams and sauces- especially when they go on meat or peanut butter sandwiches!
Fate and the Marine Corps pushed us together in Virginia and then eastern North Carolina, where his inner southern boy has bloomed and my inner hippie has taken to being surrounded by small farms with amazing fruits and vegetables. While I love North Carolina and all its rustic charm, I want to maintain my strong culinary skill and gourmet tastes...the only thing to do was mash them together. Tastefully and deliciously, of course. "The Bumpkin Gourmet" is my ode to two great cooking muses - amazingly fresh local and seasonal foods and upscale, unique, skill-driven craft. Together in one bite.
We are both avid conservationists and enjoy doing our part, both professionally and personally, to protect wildlife and save working lands across the country, including local North Carolina farms.
